Compared to turkey meat, goose meat is thicker, darker, and more flavorful. Like a duck, the majority of the fat is under the skin rather than in the flesh, where it melts while cooking and bastes the breast in a delightful way. The customary substitute for a Christmas turkey is goose.
Despite having a massive carcass, the bird will serve fewer people per pound than a turkey because it is bony and has a large rib cage. However, a smaller piece is typically required because the flesh is considerably richer.
If you’ve never tasted goose meat before and are curious about what it tastes like, you should know that, if someone likes duck meat, they probably will appreciate goose meat as well.
